Concentrated Stock Management
At Wealthstone Private Wealth Management, we specialize in designing advanced strategies for investors who hold significant positions in a single company’s stock—often accumulated through years of employment, equity compensation, or early-stage investment. Concentrated positions can create both extraordinary opportunity and significant risk. Our goal is to help clients preserve and grow their wealth by diversifying strategically and tax-efficiently.
Our firm’s proprietary Four-Stage Methodology for Concentrated Stock Diversification—originally developed by Zak Gardezy, CFP®, author of Secrets From a Wealth Advisor: How to Diversify Concentrated Stock Tax-Efficiently—is grounded in years of experience advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth investors from leading companies including FAANG and other major tech and growth enterprises.
Through a disciplined, research-driven approach, we evaluate and implement strategies such as:
Tax-loss harvesting and capital-gain offsetting
Exchange funds for diversification without immediate tax realization
Options-based hedging to limit downside exposure while maintaining upside potential
Qualified Opportunity Zone funds to defer and potentially eliminate capital gains tax
Prepaid variable forward contracts and other structured solutions tailored to your liquidity and risk objectives
Each plan is customized to align with your broader financial, estate, and philanthropic goals—reducing portfolio concentration risk while seeking to minimize or eliminate unnecessary tax liabilities.
By integrating these sophisticated strategies within a holistic wealth and tax framework, Wealthstone helps ensure that a single stock position never jeopardizes your long-term financial independence.

2. Setting Financial Goals
Goal setting is pivotal, encompassing a range of short to long-term objectives tailored to your financial profile. Short-term goals often focus on optimizing cash flow and managing immediate financial needs. Medium-term objectives might include strategic tax planning, investment in growth opportunities, and funding significant life events. Long-term goals are particularly nuanced, involving comprehensive estate planning for wealth preservation and seamless intergenerational transfer. Retirement planning in this context extends to maintaining your desired lifestyle. Setting goals can be one of the toughest aspects of financial planning, what would be an appropriate goal? Based on our extensive financial planning experience, we can help you craft realistic financial goals, and talk through the various strategies we can utilize to help you achieve them.

4. Monitor Progress and Actively Adjust
A goal without a plan is just a wish; and a plan without follow-up and appropriate adjustments overtime is just a piece of paper (or PDF file.) We avoid this common pitfall by making it a priority to review your financial plan and overall goals during your regular scheduled reviews with us. During these reviews, we’ll reiterate your goals, follow-up on action items, and we’ll let you know if you’re still on-track to reaching your goals. Also, on an annual basis, you’ll receive an updated copy of your financial plan with progress updates. Financial Planning is the cornerstone of our practice. Through effective planning, we’re able to create an appropriate savings and investment strategy that aligns with your unique goals and risk tolerance. If at any time you fall “off-track”, we’ll work with you to get back on-track by reviewing your plan and recommending adjustments that improve your probability of success.
